Clif Builders Bars

I had the opportunity to try out a Clif Bar, some Clif Shot Bloks and a Builder's Bar.

The company started with the Clif Bar in the early 90s. There's a variety of flavours, with peanut crunch the best-seller. I found this a very satisfying snack, packed with carbs, protein and a whole raft of vitamins and minerals. It's not something you can eat on the run, but a cyclist would manage on the road. For me, it makes an ideal snack an hour or so before the race starts in lieu of the traditional coffee and banana. They are tasty and easy to digest. UK price about £1.30 a go or buy in bulk and get a discount.

The Builder's Bar is high in protein plus carbs and fat healthy proportion (in addition to all the vitamins, minerals and electrolytes) and so is ideal for a post exercise recovery snack/meal. It is actually quite filling for its size. I can see this product being ideal as well for long distance walking and camping trips because it packs a great deal into a small space. They cost about £2.

All in all, I'd say Clif have hit upon a very successful formula using natural ingredients to produce tasty, digestible and healthy food for active individuals in a convenient form. Their range includes kosher, vegan, gluten and dairy-free, and low glycaemic products also.
