SealSkinz Gloves - Ultra Grip - Black
[AASKG]
Wow! I have to start there. I've worn many gloves in the past but these are now The Ones. They fit, snugly, and so far they keep fitting without stretching. If you pull them on properly you become as dexterous as if you're bare fingered.
It may seem quite random but they seem to offer good wrist protection into the cuffs too and offer perfect retractable protection to my watch as well.
The biggest problem I normal have with gloves is sweaty and over-heated hands in typical British weather. I've worn these in a variety of climates now, including those I'd normally wear fingerless palm protection, without experiencing that problem.
They are warm, waterproof and seem ripstop. They have worked well in the wet and afforded critical protection and grip irrespective of the weather and terrain – even in those moments where you’re not quite sure if any of your feet are in contact with the ground or not!
From a precision work perspective these are the best gloves I've ever worn – I can work as well in these than in latex gloves and I’ve never found another fingered glove like that before. You can do a lot more (from locating your position on a map folded in your smock pocket to manipulating fibre-optic cables) without removing them than other gloves generally allow.
Most importantly they’ve proven themselves where gloves most count – they keep me dry and warm, which is all I think anyone really cares about when it comes to the crunch.
Yes, they take nearly as long to dry properly as they do to get wet through... but I’ve never got wet hands inside them so does that count, or matter?
I would like to have written a more constructive review, but so far I can’t find anything to criticise – and that’s rare for me!
